Tangible Cafe in Bangkok
A seemingly unassuming cafe from the outside – with a clean metallic aesthetic to its entrance and its seats, Tangible packs a punch on its second level with its very own black sand pit and gravel-themed food and drinks.
If you’re up for something a little bit different from your usual cafe fare, read on to find out more about this eclectic new entry on our ever-growing list of Bangkok’s many themed cafes.
Metal-meets-nature cafe aesthetic with trippy drinks
Even from its entrance, there is something about Tangible that feels welcoming despite its sterile metal aesthetic.
Once you’ve entered the premises, however, the friendly staff and the subtle holographic hue of its furniture definitely add a soft touch to the cafe’s otherwise aloof personality.
What we found the most interesting was the elements of nature that have been seamlessly worked into the interior design of the space, such as cutely arranged potted plants. All I can say is that this only prepares you for what’s to come on its second level.
Black sand pit which inspired the cafe’s gravel-themed menu
From its very own black sand pit – complete with a tiny body of water – to a whole tree filling the space – the second floor is like a glow-up of Tangible’s ground floor concept.
The cafe utilises mood lighting effectively as well, via the natural light spilling through the window blinds, creating a soft ambience that’s perfect for more intimate conversations or dates.
And if you came by for some fun with your camera, there’s honestly so much to experiment with the sand and water holes as your set. But of course, as amazed as we were by the interior, we had to set aside time to properly review their food and drinks.
Specialty gravel-themed coffees and drinks from ฿180
Since it was our first time here, we wanted to make sure we managed to try its signature dishes.
Hence, we went for their creatively named Concrete – a chocolate mud cake that literally resembles a slab of – you guessed it, concrete. Just look at how it blends in with the gravel pieces on the floor.
The whole set, which comes with a drink of your choice, will set you back around ฿255 (~USD7.25) – a fair price for all the chuckles you’ll get when you see your piece of “edible floor” arrives at your table.
As for the taste, the cake was smooth and decadent, yet crumbly in all the right places.
Getting to Tangible
While Tangible looks like just another cafe for the ‘gram, I can envision this space as somewhere I might find myself at, on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. The cafe wasn’t too busy or noisy, which made it the perfect escape for someone in search of solitude or precious alone time.
To make the most out of your journey to this side of the Chao Phraya river, we’d recommend timing your cafe visit in the late afternoon, followed by dinner and a night stroll along the riverside at Asiatique’s night market – which is just an 8-minute walk away.
