2. So Shiok – Traditional Teochew dishes
So Shiok is a Singaporean home-kitchen that mainly cooks Teochew and traditional Chinese cuisine, characterised by light and delicate sauces that have subtle flavours.
Their menu changes every week, which means their dishes are always different. Their weekly dishes and their prices are usually announced on their Facebook page several days before the weekend.

3. Eats Payao Home-Bar & Kitchen – fresh seafood with sambal upon request
Eats Payao Home-Bar & Kitchen is a small bistro that started off serving northern Thai cuisine, which now also serves some iconic Singaporean dishes like Chilli Crab and Pepper Crab dishes for ฿1,800 (~USD59.33).
For those who haven’t tried Singapore’s remarkable chilli crab, you’re missing out. The fresh crabs are smeared in a thick and sweet marinade made from sambal and eggs. The dish is finger-licking good as the sambal’s vivid flavours bring out the sweetness of the crab.
Eats Payao Home-Bar & Kitchen specialise in seafood dishes, so depending on the type of sambal visitors are craving – Eats Payao Super Hot sauce and Eats Payao Anchovy Sambal – they can call and pre-order their choice of seafood like mussels or scallops at least 2 days ahead of time. 4. Pui Peng Bak Kut Teh Singapore – Pork
Pui Peng Bak Kut Teh Singapore is a new home delivery kitchen that exclusively serves Singaporean-Teochew style Bak Kut Teh – clear broth with herbs and selected meats.
Literally translated, Bak Kut Teh means ‘meat bone tea’; the dish is traditionally pork ribs, but can be cooked with chicken, beef and even seafood.
The soup at Pui Peng comes with an extra garlicky and peppery flavour as well as an umami taste, along with the meat being succulent and soft.
This eatery offers three different sizes of Bak Kut Teh; small sized with three pieces of pork rib for ฿200 (~USD6.59), a medium sized bowl with five pieces for ฿300 (~USD9.88), and big sized with ten pieces ฿590 (~USD19.43).
You can order as a set with rice and Soy Milk as well for ฿405 (USD13.35) excluding delivery fees. However, their prices will vary depending on the delivery courier services that they’re partnered with – their food can be ordered through Grab Food, GoJek, Robinhood, and Lineman.

5. Old Street Bak Kuh Teh – Dry Bak Kut Teh
Old Street Bak Kut Teh Thailand is a Bak Kut Teh franchise that’s straight from Singapore. They’ve got a couple of branches but the one in Bangkok’s city centre, Siam, is one of the most popular due to its convenient location.
They’re known for their delicious claypot pork rib dark and dry Bak Kut Teh – in contrast to the soup Bak Kuh Teh, the dryness of this claypot meal adds an extra smack of soy sauce and herbs.
The pork ribs are marinated in a variety of herbs, and condensed with soy sauce. For those who aren’t enthusiastic about spice, do note that the dish comes with chilli peppers – so be sure to let the restaurant know that you’d like a mild serving.
It comes with two sizes; small for ฿200 (~USD6.59) with three pieces of pork ribs and big for ฿250 (~USD8.24) with five pieces.

6. Boon Tong Kiat – Hainanese Chicken Rice
Boon Tong Kiat is a Hainanese chicken rice restaurant that’s conveniently located in the fancy neighbourhood of Thong Lor – the establishment is known for their budget-friendly servings of what may as well be Singapore’s national dish.
Their steamed and juicy chicken rice come with a bowl of soup and three different sauces you can choose from – sour sauce, soy bean curd and shredded ginger.
Even though their Hainanese Chicken Rice ฿65 (~USD2.15) may look simple, the meat is super tender, and when combined with the rice that’s cooked traditional style with garlic, can be really filling.
In addition to Hainanese Chicken, Boon Tong Kiat also serves Roasted Duck and Char Siew with Steam Rice ฿80 (~USD2.64) – the roasted duck has that fragranced soy sauce texture and the charred fatty pork slices practically melt in your mouth.
Their Chicken, Honey Roasted Pork Ribs and Crispy Pork with Steamed Rice ฿75 (~USD2.48) is for those who love crispy pork – their crispy pork is soft, quite crispy, and low in grease.
They also have Bamboo Pulp Soup ฿60 (~USD1.98), that’s cooked with Chinese medicinal herbs that give it hearty and somewhat peppery taste to it. The bamboo pulp is scrumptious and those who love Bak Kut Teh will enjoy this soup.

7. Jumbo Seafood – Chili crab in XXL sizes
Jumbo Seafood is a Singaporean franchise that was established in Bangkok, and it’s conveniently located at the luxurious mall of ICONSIAM.
If you’re a seafood fanatic and enjoy it with a large variety of spices mixed with it, get ready to indulge in XXL-sized seafood: their award winning dish is the 800g Chili Mud Crab that costs ฿1,760++ (~USD58.11). The price of each dish varies, but typically start at ฿240 (~USD7.90) per gram of seafood.
For those who aren’t necessarily craving close to a kilogram of crab, Jumbo Seafood also has the Chilli Crab meat sauce served with crispy mantou buns for ฿288 ++ (~USD9.48). The deep fried buns dipped in the sauce will give you a sensational chunky and saucy texture.

They’ve also got a medium sized Mee Goreng for ฿438 (~USD14.43) that can feed up to 5-6 pax. These fried noodles have a delicious wok hei taste to it and is mildly spicy and sweet, and is just as loved by locals like Pad Thai.

8. Chuan Kitchen Muang Thong Thani
Chuan Kitchen Muang Thong Thani is a restaurant located in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi and is spacious and suitable for big family gatherings. Bonus: there’s ample parking space in the front.
Many Thais love to indulge in Xiao Long Bao ฿120 (~USD3.97) – more commonly known as soup-dumplings, the bao is stuffed with steamed meat and rich broth.

Besides the dumplings, you can order Satay Moo ฿80 (~USD2.64), which is favourite to many Thais and Singaporeans. Their extra-charred satay might make you feel like you’re back in the hawker centres of Singapore. The peanut sauce is also different from its Thai counterpart due to less sweetness and more chillis.

Their tangy Sambal Prawn Quesadilla is somewhat a reminder of thick and soft naan stuffed with sambal sauces – comparable to a rolled pizza with prawns.
The Devil Roti Roll can be comparable to curry puff, because of its aromatic, thick, chunky and crunchy dough that’s oozing with the namesake Eurasian devil curry-marinated meat – almost comparable to a thick burrito.
