Myanmar’s Gym Rats Take Off Their Shirts In Protest Of 2021 Military Coup

On 1st February 2021, members of Myanmar’s democratically-elected National League for Democracy (NLD) were detained, this includes Nobel Laureate Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi and President Min Myint. The nation is currently under the ruling of army chief Min Aung Hliang, who imposed a state of emergency for one year.

Burmese citizens have been voicing their opposition against the coup d’état.


Shirtless protests in Myanmar


On 10th February 2021, a group of gym enthusiasts caused a stir when they took to the streets to protest whilst shirtless. According to photos from Thu Htoo San’s Facebook page, the reason why these men showcased their gym toned physiques was because they wanted to raise greater awareness of what is happening in Myanmar.

Suffice to say, these shirtless individuals and their six packs draw a lot of public attention, online and offline.
