Shanghai is considered to be one of the largest economic and trading centres in China. The city’s iconic skyscrapers and vibrant day-to-day life make it a popular destination for travellers around the world.

There are pedestrian bridges along Suzhou Creek in the city centre of Shanghai, but it looks pretty unassuming when compared to the Oriental Pearl Tower or Shanghai Tower. So, some architects at 100architects decided to give this old school bridge a spin by digitally redesigning it into a new colourful and photogenic public park.

The design studio, 100architects, proposed a renovation project named ‘High Loop’ with the aim to make the bridge more interesting and functional.

Instead of changing the structure, the team proposed adding vivid colours and decorations to the spot. There will be separated lanes for walking and cycling together with rest areas and viewpoints to admire the river and the city.

Aside from that, there will be a space for performances or pop-up night markets too.

There is no official announcement of when this project will be started, but we hope it will happen very soon! Travel lovers will then have a new destination to visit once we can hop on a flight again.
