Delivery rider eats Thai food meant for customer
Delivery riders have the unenviable job of having to be around food all the time but never being able to eat it. But one UK rider broke that taboo when he succumbed to temptation and devoured the delicious Thai food that he was meant to deliver.
Here’s what the customer did afterwards.

Thai food is a palatable seductress
Thai cuisine is famous all over the world. It’s so good that tourists will come to Thailand only for the food and many return home with memories of our humble but delicious hawker fare. A UK delivery rider who allegedly works for Deliveroo, however, felt the sweet pull of temptation when he got a whiff of the delicious smell of Thai Massaman curry.
A viral tweet posted on 28th October 2022 showed a convo with the rider, alleging that the missing meal – which had been meant for a couple of hungover friends – had been gobbled up by the one who was meant to deliver it. The rider then used the in-app messaging chat to apologise to the customers.
Bewildered by the sudden apology without an explanation, the customer asked what had happened.
And that’s when the delivery rider made this viral comment, “this food is very testy [sic]”. The customer was told that the meal he’d ordered had been eaten.
An emoji was sent as well, as if to rub in how delicious the curry was. In response, the customer – who was presumably at a loss for words – simply told the rider he was “an awful man”. The rider, under the spell of Thai food, simply replied that he didn’t care.
Such is the power of Thai food.
A messy aftermath to the undelivered food
When the OP posted the message thread to Twitter, netizens were as flabbergasted as he was.
Many simply could not believe the cheek of the delivery rider who allegedly worked for Deliveroo.
Some were curious about which Thai dish had tempted the rider so much that he could not resist polishing it off.
According to the OP, the rider even had a follow-up call with him – which involved a rather cryptic exchange as follows.
One can only speculate that perhaps guilt had gotten the better of him, before he could explain why he had done what he did. Unfortunately for the customer, the delivery service has not refunded or compensated him for the incident as of 7th November.
There is a happy ending to this story, however, because a second rider was not tempted by the food and got our hungry customer his meal 45 minutes after the first rider went rogue.
Handling an unfortunate situation with poise & humour
Despite his extremely unfavourable circumstance of being robbed of his food and not getting refunded, the customer dealt with it with class. It’s easily understandable if he were to go off his rocker as he was already hungover and was declined the sweet release of the ambrosia that is Thai food.
Yet, he responded rationally and went through proper steps to get things sorted out. He even acknowledged the humour and sheer absurdity of the situation. As relaxed and chilled as Thais are, when it comes to matters revolving food, a clear line is drawn. So we admire the customer for his ability to retain his cool.
