Pen Nueng Near Yaowarat Serves Premium Tom Yum Noodle With Whole Crab And Homemade Fish Balls

Soft-shell crab tom yum noodles in Bangkok

Forget the same old tum yum noodles and meet its upgraded versions with a whole soft-shell crab at Pen Nueng, a noodle stall near Bangkok’s Yaowarat Road.

As soon as we arrived, we didn’t hesitate to try the restaurant’s special item – Soft-Shell Crab Premium TomYam Noodles (฿199, ~USD6.15). This extravagant bowl of tom yum noodles was accompanied with a fried whole soft-shell crab, which looked heavenly.

The item was served in a ceramic bowl with a fire lit up from underneath – adding a cool photogenic factor to folks who love the pre-meal snapping ritual.

We loved the tom yum soup here because it had a nice balance of spicy and tangy flavours, which is tom yum’s signature flavour. The egg noodles were so well-cooked and springy in every slurp and the fried crab was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

To make the dish even more perfect, the restaurant’s homemade fish balls were dense and bouncy in every bite – adding more texture to the item.

If you’re a prawn lover, you can also get giant prawn tom yum noodles for the same price as well.
