Pattaya on lockdown

Pattaya, a vibrant seaside city near Bangkok, is waving its hands away to visitors as it shuts its doors to outsiders from 9th April 2020, 2PM onwards due to the rising number of COVID-19 infections in the local area.

On 8th April 2020, Pattaya City’s proposal to lock down its township was approved by the Chonburi governor Pakkhathorn Thianchai as the number of confirmed infections in Pattaya is now up to 30 – the highest in the province.
According to the proposal, it has been agreed to activate a full lockdown of Pattaya from 9th April 2020 onwards for 21 days. During the lockdown, 5 checkpoints will be set on main roads leading into Pattaya to screen people who seek to access the city.
The checkpoints are stationed at main access routes including Soi Chaiyapornvithee, Motorway Route 2, Soi Pornprapanimit, Soi Chayaporn and Sukhumvit Road near the Office of Public Prosecutors.
All roads into Pattaya city will be closed to outsiders from 9th April, 2PM

As part of further preventive measures, people in the area are required to wear face masks when going outdoors. Those who are not Pattaya residents or not working in the city will not be allowed to enter until the situation returns to normal.
