Waiting for your delayed flight can be frustrating. But waiting for 7 hours just to get out of an aircraft can really leave you unhinged.

Earlier this week, a video of a female passenger being forcibly restrained by Thai Airways crew emerged online. The flight was TG664, heading from Bangkok to Shanghai Pudong Airport on 6th March 2020.

The video has since gained over 1 million views.

According to Thairath, the passenger, who was Chinese, tried to force her way out of the aircraft after landing. When approached by a female crew member, she intentionally coughed on her thinking they’d let her out.

Mr. Prathana Pattanasiri, head of Thailand’s Aviation Safety Department, said the passenger got upset after having to wait for 7 hours for the COVID-19 screening procedures in the cabin as there were many planes lined up before it could get to them.

Travellers should stay calm at all times

After causing the scene, the passenger finally calmed down while the crew explained the screening process to her and why it had to be done.

Shanghai Airport has started screening all flights with passengers who have recently travelled to high-risk countries including Italy, South Korea, Japan, and Iran. Passengers who have been to these countries in the past 14 days would be sent to designated places and monitored for 2 weeks.

There has been no further information on the crew member who was coughed on, but we hope she’s doing fine.
