One more death has been reported by The Public Health Ministry today, bringing the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 5. 91 new cases were also reported, with the accumulated total now standing at 1,136.

The new patients fall into 3 groups, as have most of the recent cases:

  • 30 people in contact with previous cases or venues they are linked to – 5 from a boxing stadium, 7 from an entertainment complex, and 18 who were in contact with the previous patients.
  • 19 people who arrived from other countries, lived/worked in crowded areas or places frequented by foreigners.
  • The remaining 42 patients are under investigation for contact tracing.

Dr Anupong Suchariyakul, a specialist of the Disease Control Department, shared that 1,034 remain hospitalised, including 11 patients in critical condition on respirators. 97 patients have been discharged.

83% of the recorded cases are Thais, and 12% foreigners, Bangkok Post reported.

However, Dr Anupong shared in a positive note that no new cases have been linked to a religious ceremony in Malaysia, which had been a major source of cluster surges in Thailand.
