An act of kindness at MK Thailand

When I was in primary school, I used to save my pocket money to enjoy food and desserts with friends during the weekend. We had to spend a lot of time planning on the restaurant, how to get there, and most importantly, how much we had to spend.
In this touching story, a group of children had enjoyed a meal together but did not have enough money to pay the bill. Luckily, they were helped by a kind family sitting nearby.
“I told you. Don’t eat too much”
On 21st June 2020, a viral video went around TikTok posted by user Jamie Kobb. The video featured a woman who was helping some children pay for their food at MK Restaurant in Thailand.
“These children ate together at MK, but their money was not enough to pay. So, I helped them pay the rest. They are so cute and funny”

These children were around 10 years old and were eating at MK Restaurant at a shopping mall in Chonburi province. When the waiter came with the bill, Jamie noticed they were counting coins and overheard them saying, “I told you. Don’t eat too much.”
So, she and her family decided to pay the rest for them which was at ฿170.

At the end of the video, the kids respectfully ‘wai’-ed and said thank you to the family one by one. They then ran out of the restaurant in joy.
Netizens shared their own moments of gratitude
One commenter shared that she was also there when the incident took place and had overheard the kids’ sheepish conversation.
Translation: I was there too, and also told my boyfriend to ask them how much they needed at the same time this family helped them. While they were eating, they were very happy but might have miscalculated a little bit. Every one of them said thanks. That’s so cute. I heard one of them saying “Hurry up, go go go. That’s so embarrassing”
Many media channels shared the story too. Aside from compliments towards the family and children, there were many people who shared their memories of when they were in similar situations.
Translation: One day, they will give to others as same as they experienced.
Translation: I used to run a shop and had given free ice cream to a child who couldn’t afford a snack like these friends. The child was very happy and said thanks to me.
We, as readers, are very impressed with this story too.
Big thanks to Jamie and her family who supported them – and for we, we hope they have enough the next time they’re out!
