Misty Forest in Chiang Mai
After long weeks of working in the bustling city, we certainly need some solitude and peace. Taking a short trip elsewhere, we can look forward to waking up to quiet surroundings or sipping our coffee slowly under the morning light. Accordingly, Chiang Mai is a province that we keep on the radar.
So Misty Forest in Chiang Mai is a homestay with secluded villas where you can get away from urban living and finally get an uninterrupted nap amidst nature.

Two cottages overlooking foggy mountains
Hidden in the middle of a mountain, Misty Forest has mid-sized cottages that are surrounded by banks of thick fog, shrouding a lush forest within. Behind the resort lies hill ranges covered with dense forests. You’d barely see any signs of people, unlike in busy, bigger cities.
Situated in the middle of the wooden flooring is a glass bedroom that lets you wake up to an uninterrupted view of an extensive valley. Next to the room, there is a swing chair and a mini table where you can bring a book to read leisurely amidst the cool air and green, mountainous landscape.
If cloud-gazing sounds relaxing to you, the deck comes equipped with a large hammock floor on which you can lie down and view the clouds rolling by, either alone or with your other half.
For coffee-lovers, we find this feature noteworthy for you. As long as you book a stay at Misty Forest’s cabins, you’ll be offered hot drip coffee to drink to fight off the northern coldness on the mountain.
Three thatched villas with outdoor bathtubs
FYI, Misty Forest offers three villas positioned on the side of the mountain in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai. All of which guarantee privacy for guests due to their locations.
Firstly, Ban Talay Mok comes with a glass-enclosed bedroom decked in a wooden-style priced at ฿6,900 (~USD185)/night. With some space left on the sides, you can ask for an extra bed for your third friend in case you’re rooming with three people. However, an extra bed will cost around ฿1,800 (~USD50).
Walking out of the room, you will see a mini private pool and an outdoor round tub facing the forested hills. When looking below, you’ll spot thousands of towering trees scattered across the hillside, making it hard to see any establishments down there.
Alternatively, Bang Talay Dao – which costs ฿4,500 (~USD121)/night – is a glamping villa with an elevated loft net in the middle. On the left sits an outdoor bathtub and an open bathroom that lets you take in the view of nature while doing your business. If you’re hungry for a late-night snack, feel free to utilise the dining area on the right as well.
Getting to Misty Forest in Chiang Mai
For those who fancy travelling to northern Thailand to glimpse its fantastic natural attractions, we believe you should keep this resort on your list for the next Chiang Mai trip. Given that the resort only has three villas for now, we’d suggest you check out their Facebook page down below to ask if there are any available slots before making a reservation.
If you have your own car, thankfully, you can drive yourself to Misty Forest as the place provides a parking lot and driving here is not complicated. From the city of Chiang Mai, Misty Forest takes about one hour and a half to get here.
