Democracy movement in Myanmar
Earlier this year, the Burmese military apparatus, Tatmadaw, contested the victory of the National League of Democracy (NLD) in an election.
Since then, public figures have taken to social media to voice their opinions against the military’s actions – some have even decided to stay in Thailand. A new addition to the list is Htar Htet Htet, who represented Myanmar in the Miss Grand International pageant in 2013.
Here’s her response to the situation.

Staying true – and safe – to yourself
Standing up for what you believe in and using your platform to advocate for others are very noble actions that will surely cause ripples. When taking on such an initiative, it’s important to prioritise your own safety.
