Menya Itto Bangkok: Tokyo’s #1 Ranked Ramen Chain With Rock Lobster Tsukemen & Clam Shoyu Broth

Menya Itto Bangkok review

Japanese food is one of the most popular cuisines around the world. Its dishes which range from simple sushi, to hearty ramens continue to rank high on our lists as many of our personal faves. Bangkok is home to tons of ramen restaurants, but one lesser-known variety is tsukemen; a dipping ramen that comes with noodles and soup served separately.

If you’re down to try something new, head to Menya Itto,  a Japanese restaurant that’s ranked #1 in Tokyo for their delicious noodles. No need to book a plane ticket though, because they are located right here in Bangkok.

What to order at Menya Itto

We noticed quite a number of interesting dishes on the menu and knew we had to give as many as we could a try.

The first thing we were eyeing was the Lobster Tsukemen for ฿1,890 (~USD 53.33), and when it first came, we could see that the lobster was packed with fresh and juicy chunks of meat.

Their broth is made from rock lobster, which had a very savoury umami flavour. It was also very creamy and thick, and was perfect as a dip for our lobster meat.

Do note that this dish is so exclusive, you’ll have to give the restaurant a ring to pre-order it before heading down. We settled our payment prior to our visit too; this meant that we’d given them our guarantee that we were going to eat it.

Then, it was time to try the Clam Shoyu Ramen ฿230 (~ USD6.49), and one of the first things that stood out was definitely its seafood broth. The soup used porcini mushroom oil, and it had a subtle clam taste with a blend of shoyu.

Their Signature Chashu Itto Tsukumen for ฿350 (~USD9.88) came with three types of chashu slices; Bara Chashu (pork belly), Rosu Chashu (pork shoulder), and Tori Chashu (chicken breast).

As an extra treat, we also had two chicken dumplings inside the broth, along with Sakura shrimp and some chili.

After stirring and dipping the ramen noodles into the broth, we noticed that this was thicker than the lobster broth. This soup reminded me of brown onion gravy usually served with steak, but with a seafood twist to it.

Ramen made for seafood lovers

If you happen to be around the Siam-Chidlom area, it’s super easy to get there as the store is located near the BTS station. Just remember to come with an empty stomach and have your food pre-ordered!
