Man gets backlash for shaming woman online
It’s not cool to take people’s pictures and put them online without their consent – but doing so to criticise them about something as random as how they sit? Um… that’s not going to end well.
Spoiler alert, it did not.
On 19th August 2019, a Facebook post was shared on a page called โหดสัส ตามภาพ (Hodsud Tampab). It included a picture of a woman sitting cross-legged at a Japanese restaurant. Along with the picture, the man’s caption called her out on her manners, suggesting that she was “devaluing herself” by sitting like that in a restaurant.
Translation: My mother taught me good table manners, especially when out in public. It doesn’t matter how rich or beautiful you are because sitting like this cancels all that.

Netizens beg to differ, support woman in photo
The self-proclaimed manners police might have thought that the wave of opinions would have gone his way, but it actually was the opposite. Many comments criticised him for putting his nose into other people’s business, saying that the woman in the picture could do whatever she wanted.
Let’s just say this: he got schooled by netizens about his ‘good manners.’
Translation: I love sitting cross-legged wherever I am and it doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

Translation: So taking someone’s photo without permission and talking behind that person’s back is good manners?

This is not the first case
Back in June this year, another man and posted a similar photo and caption on Facebook, bashing a woman who was sitting cross-legged on a chair in a restaurant, also claiming that she was “devaluing womanhood”.
He also directly stated that the woman was not properly taught by her family. Ouch! Needless to say, there was a huge backlash and he was criticised by Thai netizens too.

After everyone’s explosive reaction, the man posted a video apologising to the woman in the photo and everybody else who was offended. He said that he didn’t have malicious intentions and just wanted to express his opinions on what he saw.

Guys, chill and enjoy your meal
Expressing your opinions is fine but not when it’s hurtful and targets a regular individual going about their everyday life – that’s just plain bullying.
We hope both men learned their lesson to not go around snapping people’s photos without their permission, and to be respectful.
