Thai Man Found ‘Dead’ In Plastic Wrap, Turns Out ‘Corpse’ Was Just Sleeping

Thai man found “dead” in plastic wrap

The meaning behind the popular saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is pretty straightforward and easy to comprehend.

However, there are also instances when we judge people or situations at face value with no malicious intent, but rather out of kindness and a desire to help. For example, when we see what looks like a dead body and alert the cops.

Here’s the story of Thai man who was found “dead” in plastic wrap on the side of the street and was helped by the people in his community.

His body was wrapped in a large plastic bag and was found laying on a footpath beside the village’s trashcans.

Community members who came across Uthai’s body decided to alert the paramedics and the police, because they thought the individual was dead.

However, what happened next was beyond their expectations.

The man was just drunk and sleeping

When the villagers went to check if the body was truly dead, Uthai woke up and was obviously confused by the commotion.

After sobering up, Uthai told the paramedics and police that he was just drunk from a party he attended with friends the night before, and couldn’t make his way home.

So, he decided to sleep right there on the footpath, and used a piece plastic wrap that he found in a nearby trashcan as a blanket to protect himself against dirt and mosquitoes.

Netizens react to “dead” man’s resurrection

After the story went viral, many netizens shared their comments on Uthai’s “death”.

Translation: He slept like a rock. If he didn’t wake up, he might have gotten cremated in a coffin.

One netizen shared a hilariously dark comment: that Uthai might have gotten cremated if he hadn’t woken up in time to explain that he was just asleep.

Translation: Is that a spot where people should sleep? He could have gotten run over by a car and landed on the front-page of the news.

Another netizen thought that it was inappropriate for Uthai to sleep on the side of the road he might have been run over by a car.

Go to bed, not the footpath

While we laughed so hard after reading this story, we really hope that Uthai will realize that footpaths aren’t an ideal spot to sleep. Maybe then he’ll make it to his bed when he gets drunk next time.

If not, he might rest in peace in a coffin, instead of sleeping well in bed.
