Teaching students to wash clothes in school
Lessons that 8-year-old students are required to complete might be reading, writing, and calculating basic math correctly. Those subjects are practical in real life, but have you ever thought about other life skills children need to learn?
This Thai teacher wanted to create a fun class that also benefits her students in their daily life, so she came up with a ‘laundry lesson’.
Take your socks off and enjoy washing clothes
Miss. Ratwadee Inthakanok went on Facebook to share more about this fun lesson with her students.
Translation:
Grade 2 students learn a life skill on how to do the laundry. You cannot wait for others to help, you must work on it by yourself. Thanks, Downy (a fabric softener) for giving me the magic spell for sweet smelling clothes.Another homework for myself: Teacher, how to wash a musty shirt?
She switched out from her usual attire and into a sarong for the lesson

She then shared some photos of her grade 2 students washing their clothes willingly and intently.

The kids changed into dark blue shirts washed their regular uniforms during class. This way, they could wear the uniforms they proudly cleaned by themselves back home.

Most of the students also got their socks off to completely enjoy the washing experience without worrying about getting their clothes wet.
Many netizens were impressed with this class
Nowadays, schools focus more on academics but forget that fun and interesting activities are also important too, especially for younger students.
Various comments said that this laundry class was really good and practical while providing students with real skills for life.
Translation: This is a good class. Nowadays, most children ignore all housework
Translation: Schools in the present focus only on academic learning and make students feel stressed and not want to go to school. This might make schools more friendly and enjoyable.
Translation: I hope that other schools will try this kind of lesson too. It’s good for their daily life.
We agree that this is a creative lesson and that all her children looked happy joining in the class. It’s good to have a teacher who always tries hard to offer the best for students – kudos Ms. Ratwadee!
