24/7 kuay jab in Bangkok
This 30-year-old restaurant, Kuay Jab Nam Kon Mae Ma Li, is every up-all-night foodie’s dream. From it’s tender kuay jab to delicious crispy pork that’s served around the clock, there’s no wonder this is a no brainer for supper buddies in Bangkok.
What items to order
Their Kuay Jab (Regular: ฿60, ~USD1.85 | Extra: ฿70, ~USD2.15) has a generous serving of soft rolled noodles and comes piled with herby pork offal like liver, and is topped with crispy pork. There is also blood jelly and a hard-boiled egg to accompany the dish.
The soup was tad salty, yet filled an aromatic scent of five-spice powder which went very well with chewy rolled noodles.
Our favourite thing about the dish was the pork offal. Each piece was enormous and succulent – and none had an unpleasant odour that those unfamiliar with the dish would expect.
If you’re not a pork offal fan, however, you can inform the cook that you don’t want them.
Homemade crispy pork you must not miss
Along with kuay jab, we ordered Red Pork And Crispy Pork Rice (Regular: ฿60, ~USD1.85 | Extra: ฿70, ~USD2.15). Although the red pork was a little bit on the dry side, it still had a soft texture. With that said, the crispy pork was superb for its dry and crunchy skin and juicy meat – we couldn’t get enough of it.
Drizzling the red gravy on the rice and meat blended everything together well, with its sweet and savoury flavour.
If you only prefer only one type of pork on the rice, just tell the cook which cut you’d prefer.
Feast on hearty kuay jab whenever
Kuay Jab Nam Kon Mae Ma Li is tucked away in an old shophouse and is open for all foodies around the clock – so we won’t have to wait until the morning to eat a big bowl of kuay jab and delicious crispy pork.
