Khwan Beach Resort Koh Samui
With the rise of “glamping” over recent years, camping has been elevated from an outdoorsy activity to a luxury experience.
While we’ve always wanted to try glamping, one thing has put us off: most glampsites are in the mountains and not the beach. If you’re in the same boat, then heading over to Khwan Beach Resort in Koh Samui is the solution.
Here’s why you should bookmark this beach resort for your next trip.

Glamping on Mae Nam Beach
When planning a trip to Koh Samui, chances are you’ll be seeing a lot of recs for “Mae Nam Beach“.
Mae Nam Beach is probably the most popular beach stretch on the island and is conveniently located by other Koh Samui attractions like Fisherman’s Village.

If staying on this famous beach and camping next to the ocean are on your travel bucket-list, Khwan Beach Resort can help you cross of both of those items.

While the resort offers glamping tents that suggest “outdoorsy” vibes, rustic or “campy” wouldn’t be words we’d use to describe this sleek establishment.
In the centre of the the pool villas and hi-so tents lies a marble pool with a swim-up bar.

And you know what they say. While a swim-up bar may not solve all your problems, taking a much-deserved break in one certainly won’t hurt.

Now onto the main attraction, the tents that’d put most young professionals’ apartments to shame.Â

The resort offers two types of accommodation: Tented Villas and Pool Villas.

Though called “tented” villas, these rooms are a far cry from what we traditionally view as a “tent”. In our experience, we’ve never seen a tent with a king-size four-poster bed and perfectly neutral-toned matched furniture.

We’ve also never had “tents” with bedrooms. Here, the tented manors come in one and two-bedroom sizes; both have a private entrance, garden and terrace with two sunbeds.
Most of all, they have a semi-outdoor bathroom with a private tub and shower.

Whether it’s a candle-lit bath under the stars or a mid-day soak, we’re pretty sure this bathtub is just what you need for a relaxing vacation.
If baths aren’t your thing, that’s okay too. You can also enjoy the tent’s versatility and convert your room into an open-air sanctuary where you can lounge around without having to turn on the aircon in Thailand.

A night in a one-bedroom luxury tent starts from ฿4,800 (~USD143) and the two-bedroom’s rates begin at ฿7,200 (~USD216).
Camping, but make it “glamorous”
Growing up, this writer always wondered why on earth her friends would subject themselves to being at the mercy of nature by going camping.
Well, if camping involved staying in a tent that had access to a pool with a swim-up bar, a private garden and a giant bed, we probably wouldn’t have judged.
So, if your loved ones are nagging you about finally going camping, offer this resort as a compromise. They get to have that outdoorsy experience while you get to maintain all the elements of a relaxing vacation.
