The night curfew and stay-at-home measures have led to a surge in online shopping and delivery service businesses, with people ordering all sorts of stuff – from food and groceries and clothes, household items.
To protect themselves and others from the virus, people have to avoid going out which affects all taxi drivers to have fewer passengers and incomes. Delivery company Kerry Express is now inviting taxi drivers to join them in delivering packages to help them get more income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prachachat reported that the night curfew and stay-at-home measures have led to a significant increase in the amount of parcels going out each day from all that online shopping folks are doing, which have caused delays in delivery.
Kerry Express is known for their next day shipping services, but the company hasn’t been able to keep up with the policy due to the large amount of packages during this time. They have even had to turn down the delivery of food and fresh items to avoid them turning bad.

After noticing that many taxi drivers had been affected by the job crisis caused by the pandemic as well as decrease in passengers, Kerry Express enlisted their help with deliveries.
This not only aids the business, but also helps provide income for these drivers during this hard time.

Facebook user Chaimongkol Khantura, who helped spread the news to all taxi drivers, added that the deliveries usually take around 2 hours covering around 10km a day. However, drivers are able to earn between ฿600-฿700 – this is much more than an all-day drive where earnings are usually around ฿300.
Taxi drivers who are interested in working with Kerry Express can contact Smart Taxi’s call centre +66 2 044 9999 or get more information from Smart Taxi,Ltd.
