Here, you have the option to pick between raw or boiled cockles, both going for ฿80 per plate. If you’d like to get a takeaway order, it will cost ฿100. And don’t worry if you have no idea how to eat a cockle – the staff here will crack out your cockles for free!

For those of you who are hesitant to down raw seafood, warm yourselves up with a plate of boiled cockles. Through the boiling process, the cockles soften up and become easier to chew.

Everything comes with a side of 3 delicious dipping sauces: Spicy seafood sauce, Sweet plum sauce, and a mixed sauce for those who want a little bit of both.

Our favourite sauce was the spicy seafood sauce, which is made from a combination of blended chilli, lime juice, fish sauce, and seasoning. But if heat is not your thing, go for the plum sauce instead.

Next up, we gave their raw cockles a go. The texture is chewier and definitely has a “fishier” taste, but it wasn’t off-putting.

Once you’re done downing it all, the stall offers each table a bucket of water to clean up after your meal.

We had a very good experience at Jeh Pa. Besides a warm welcome from the staff, our meal was satisfying and value-for-money too.

So whether you’re a seafood fan or would like to try cockles for the first time, head over to Jeh Pa in the Wongwian Yai neighbourhood when in Bangkok.
