If you are in Thailand and are in for a quick weekend trip, consider dropping by the Northern provinces to enjoy what’s left of the Thai winter season.

The International Balloon Fiesta at Singha Park Chiang Rai is an annual festival that both local and foreigners look forward to enjoying each year.

Chiang Rai is be one of the world’s most loved destination because of it’s chilly weather and beautiful surroundings, and this adorable balloon festival makes it even more exciting!

With colourful and fancy balloons floating around, all photo buffs should get your cameras ready and prepare your costumes to match the theme.

Aside from being a photogenic spot, there are many activities and performances that take place during the event too. You will even have the chance to hop on a balloon with the Balloon Tethering activity. 

Note: This is limited for only 200 couples/day and you can win a chance by purchasing non-alcohol drinks of up to ฿250.

At night from 8pm till late, there will be a balloon and light performance. Different Thai-style performances like traditional kites shows and the pantomimes are also worth checking out.

Other than enjoying the event, you’ll also be contributing to a good cause because portions of the entrance fees of ฿150/person will go to a charity supporting underprivileged children and schools in the region.
