Giant charcoal noodles

Bangkokians always go nuts for big-sized meals as they’re perfect for sharing with friends or family. Kod Ba Mi is another Bangkok restaurant that has jumped on this trend. Here, they serve a giant bowl of noodles that will likely fill you up for weeks.

The signature dish

After getting a table in their open-air shophouse, we ordered a bowl of Kod Ba Mi (฿199, ~USD6.5), the restaurant’s signature item. When the big ceramic bowl arrived, we were quite certain it could easily feed 3-4 people.

Egg noodles in the bowl were topped with red roasted pork, crispy pork, pork wontons, hard-boiled eggs, stewed pork, crispy noodles, and boiled bok choy. And when we looked carefully, we were baffled to see charcoal egg noodles in the mix as well.

It goes without saying that the presentation was on point. As for the taste, it didn’t let us down either.

The egg noodles were springy and chewy, and perfectly glazed with red gravy. They also went well with succulent roasted pork and soft stewed meat while the crispy pork added a nice crunch to each bite.

The restaurant also served hot soup with the main dish, which was quite refreshing thanks to its slightly sweet flavour. Pouring a little bit of soup onto your noodles makes it juicier and even tastier.

If you’re a lone foodie, worry not. A single serving is also available from ฿50 ( ~USD1.60).
