Miss Laddawan Meesuk from Nakhon Si Thammarat has been making waves after she saved a rare soft shelled turtle from her husband’s boiling pot, as she believed its golden colour represented luck.

Both Laddawan and her husband, Niruth Sukom, caught the 1-year-old, 20cm female soft-shelled turtle at Huay Tung Na Canal. As they reached home, Niruth shared that he wanted to turn the turtle into a meal, much to his wife’s objections.

The lady then adopts the turtle as part of the family, and called her Thong Ma (gold arrives). Not so surprisingly, she even had neighbours offering her ฿10K to buy it, but she rejected them. What a bargain!
