Frontliners get Michelin star meals
Medical frontliners are probably the most essential groups in combatting Covid-19. These individuals tirelessly work day and night, which has sparked communities in Thailand to support our heroes.
Some have even created platforms that help other community members give back to medical personnel. For example, Ms. Panchana Vanasathein founded Food For Fighters, an initiative that partners with restaurants to provide meals for our champions as well as other communities decimated by Covid-19.
Their most recent campaign is the Food For Fighters: 7 Chefs Project, where seven respected chefs from Bangkok’s Michelin-starred restaurants cooked high quality meals for those in need and frontliners.
Let’s see what delicious meals they whipped up for the community.
Locals giving out free food:
- Ratchaburi local give out free meals to strangers
- Thai eateries feed the homeless during Covid-19
- Restaurants give free meals to migrant workers in Samut Prakan

On 29th May 2021, participants in the Food For Fighters: 7 Chefs Project managed to cook and deliver 700 meals. The chefs worked all day to produce meals for those in need using ingredients donated by generous farms and locals.
Recipients included those in field hospitals, Covid-19 hotspots like Khlong Toey and prison facilities.
The original goal was to cook 100 lunches for those who’ve been largely impacted by the pandemic. Although, thanks to the volunteers’ dedication and diligence, Food For Fighters was able to exceed that goal by 600.
Michelin star chefs making a difference
Each chef cooked a different dish for the project. Here are some of their names, which you may recognise, along with their creations:
- Khun Thaninthorn Chantrawan from Chim by Siam Wisdom – Steamed Rice with Taro and Chicken Stew with Truffle Oil
- Khun Andy Yang from Table 38 – Pad Thai
- Khun Thitid Tassanakajohn from Baan Restaurant – Grilled Pork Neck with Rice
- Khun Nick Nutthapol Pavapaiboon from Wang Hinghoi – Chicken Burger with Salads
- Khun David Thompson from Aksorn – Fried Chicken with Coconut Rice
- Khun Jutamas Theantae from Karmakamet Conveyance – Fried Mackerel with Shrimp Paste Sauce with Rice and Chicken Biryani with Rice
- Khun Srirat Sripinyo from Sri Trat Restaurant – Pork Stew with Cha Muang Leaves with Rice
Food For Fighters mentioned that the recipients were thankful to receive any type of assistance, and that some were even in tears.
Like with any campaign, knowing that their efforts has brightened someone’s day is enough of a success indicator.
