Foreigner takes a photo of her Barbie doll in a spirit house
Many newcomers in Thailand might not know what a spirit house is and how to treat it properly. As a result, they sometimes do things that amuse Thai people, such as drinking the red soda offered at the spirit house and sitting under it.
To this end, a foreign woman was caught taking a photo of her Barbie doll inside a spirit house. The video amused many Thai netizens.

On 1st May 2023, A TikTok user, nataleeexangel, uploaded a video of a foreign woman taking a pic of her Barbie doll that she had placed in a Thai spirit house. The video features a text saying “Nooooooooooooo!” in Thai. After the video was released, it went viral and amused many Thai netizens.
A spirit house, also known as a “san phra phum” in Thai, is a sacred shrine in Thailand. It is believed to be a sacred dwelling for spirits, and Thai people will make offerings, such as food and drinks, to show respect and ask for blessings from the spirit in the house.
Thai netizens didn’t find what the foreigner had done to be offensive but rather funny – as they understood she might not have been aware of what it was.

Some people misunderstood and thought the woman had stolen the doll from the spirit house. It was actually her own and was just taking a pic of it.

She probably thought it was a Thai-style doll house as there were Thai dolls in there. It’s understandable as she could be new in the country, and most of us thought what she did was cute and funny.
