Durian slippers come in three colors and sizes

We think these slippers are an ideal intro to durian for beginners. If the smell puts you off, try wearing them on your feet instead.

The soles emulate the husk-like texture, sans the infamously ripe smell of the King of Fruits.

The slippers come in three different colours: yellow, green and dark green – also known as the primary shades of durian ripeness. However, each durian is unique, so its colours and ripeness may differ.

The slippers are made from PVC plastic, so they are bound to be as durable as the actual fruit’s sturdy husks.

When the fruit is ripened, it turns yellow. Durian connoisseurs say that the yellower the fruit, the riper and sweeter it is.

They’re available in three sizes:

  • 36-37 (23.5 CM)
  • 38-39 (24.5 CM)
  • 40-41 (25.5 CM)

Taking a closer look at the inner soles of the slippers, eagle-eyed fans may be able to spot the faint outline of the inner husk – which typically contains the 6 to 8 pulpy seeds of durian flesh.

A cool detail as a homage to the fruit’s design.
