Earlier this week Thai virologists warned that the current rate of vaccination in Thailand versus the rate of Covid-19 infections are alarming. 

Today, the Thai Government has officially given the green light for private hospitals to import vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Vaccines authorised for use by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  include those distributed by Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac and AstraZeneca, shared Thai Enquirer

Currently, a majority of Thailand’s vaccinated population – many who have only received the first dose – have been jabbed with the Sinovac or Astrazeneca shot. Under Thailand’s current vaccination program, only 7,121 out 10 million people in Bangkok have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine reported The Thaiger.


Thai private hospitals to supply vaccine


Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O-Cha has allowed private hospitals to import Covid-19 vaccine doses amidst the rise of infected persons in Thailand. 

According to Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration spokesman (CCSA), vaccines are in high demand. Their goal is to obtain 70 million doses by the end of 2021, reported Thai Enquirer
