No Children’s Day activities allowed in Bangkok
“Children’s Day” happens on the second Saturday of January every year. Typically, the entire country would gather to celebrate and encourage the curiosity and vivacity of the future generations. There are local festivals as well as private celebrations.
On 5th January 2021, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that all ‘red zone’ provinces – which includes Bangkok – cannot hold Children’s Day activities.
Other provinces asked to follow suit
Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Spokesperson of the CCSA asked that the 11 ‘orange’ and 28 ‘yellow’ provinces also postpone Children’s Day celebrations, as reported on the National News Bureau of Thailand. He warns against putting the children, a high-risk group, in danger.
