Have you ever needed to go to the toilet while stuck in traffic? If you’ve been through that, then you’ll know that while in a jam, your options are limited. And if that sounds like a big problem, we cannot imagine what it must be like to have a serious emergency while in a jam.

Early September this year, a Grabfood driver caught the hearts of Thai netizens after a story of him saving a child’s life made its rounds online.

The mother of a child – Ploypat Manatat posted on a personal Facebook user named Ployly M Kaewya included with a video that was recorded via a car’s dash cam, showing a typical scene of a traffic jam in Bangkok with stationary vehicles. However in the background, a mother’s frantic pleas can be heard.

Translation: Posting this video is hard because my heart breaks every time I see it. I’ve decided to share it in order to show that is important to stay calm – which I wasn’t in that moment.

Ms. Ploypat, the mother in the video, went on the share that all she was thinking about was finding a Grab driver who would be able to help bring her child to the hospital amid the jam. “Thank you Pop, the Grabfood rider, as well as the motor taxi driver, with all my heart.” she said.

Unfortunately, Ms. Ploypat’s son had suffered a seizure attack while in the car. Unable to move due to the jam, they were left helpless. “He can’t stand up anymore. His mouth is already palsied and his eyes are twitching too. What can we do?” she can be heard saying in the video.

Luckily, the family spotted a Grabfood delivery man making his way down the lane. A motorcycle seemed like the only feasible option, so Ms. Ployly’s husband quickly flagged him down for help. The rider, Pop, immediately took both mother and child on his bike to the nearest hospital.

However, as the hospital was across the road, he then got the help of a motor taxi driver who was nearby to help transport the family to their destination.

As shared with Khaosod, Grabfood Driver Watchara “Pop” Krasian said, “I was on my way to deliver a pizza to a customer. I then saw that they were asking for help as their child was sick, so I took them on my bike. I was afraid that it would take too long to make a U-turn, so I asked a motor taxi driver to help bring the child to the hospital.”

“I saw them asking for help, so I quickly carried the child and ran across the overpass to get to the hospital.” said Tawan Kraipetch, the driver who helped the child get to safety, on AmarinTV.

After the incident, Pop was back on Grabfood duty, but the food he was delivering was destroyed. However, both the company and customer fully understood the situation.

Giving a big hand to these heroes. Thank you to the customer who understood the Grabfood driver’s reasons too.

Child is now safe and sound

Ms. Ployly shared that her child, Prawan, is now safe. She also mentioned that his seizures were due to a neurological issue and he is now on medication.

We’re happy to hear that Prawan is lucky to have been helped by these 2 heroes. This also shows that one does not need to be a police officer or doctor to save someone’s day – we can do something good everyday no matter our job.
