Inspired by traditional Thai beliefs

Owned by Mr Poompat Chinpongpanich, Bar Thewada was ready to shine months before but had to be on hiatus due to COVID-19. However, as the situation in Thailand is much better, the bar is back in the spotlight and is more than ready to welcome customers.

The interior atmosphere is inspired mostly by Mr Chinpongpanich’s beliefs.

Right as you enter, you’ll be greeted by walls full of traditional Thai murals, which you’d normally see on the walls of chapels in Thai temples.

Mr Chinpongpanich once prayed to Thao Vejsuwan, a deity which protects evil spirits and attracts financial gain, when he was in hardship, and he had become more successful since then.

He also added that “I believe in what we cannot see. I invited sacred spirits to dwell here and have asked for their blessings.”

Sip themed drinks in style

The bar’s signature cocktails and drinks are inspired by Thai and Hindu myths. They look luxurious and come in all sorts of flavours for you to sip on.

Some of what you can’t miss include the Manee Mekhala (฿320), a cocktail made with crafted pandanus rum, jasmine vermouth, and pomelo juice. The cocktail has a sweet flavour with a fruity touch of lime juice.

Another one on the recommended list is Bongkot Kaew, which translates to glass lotus. The drink is inspired by a lotus in Anodard Lake, a legendary lake in Himmapan Forest, and definitely looks the part. Be sure to take a pretty photo of this drink before downing it!

It also comes with fiery theatrics to boot, just like a Flaming Lamborghini.

You can also order vivid drinks like the Arkom Vittiyathorn, a sweet cocktail that takes its name from one of the Thai angels who live in the highest level of heaven. It even comes with a light spray of holy water, which the mixologist believes it would bring luck to drinkers.

Besides tasting good, the performance by the mixologists is also something you can look forward to seeing. Click here for a glimpse of it.

If you’re looking for a new chill spot to spend the night out, drop by Bar Thewada and sip on some incredible cocktails.
