Bangkok delays vaccine appointments
Last month, Bangkok announced that Thai residents who are 18 and above can sign up for jabs via a new registration website called “Thai Ruam Jai“.
This was in addition to the Mor Prom app and official LINE account. Around 80,000 people have since received vaccinations at many shopping malls in Bangkok.
Just this morning, however, vaccine appointments made via Thai Ruam Jai will now be paused due to a shortage of vaccine doses. Sessions will apparently proceed as per normal, as soon as more doses arrive.
The full details about the announcement are summarised below.

Thai Ruam Jai vaccine appointments delayed due to vaccine shortage
According to the announcement, those who registered via the Thai Ruam Jai website for Covid-19 vaccine appointments after 15th June 2021, will have to wait a little longer for their turn.
This is because Bangkok’s supply is running low.

The programme will be back up as soon as more doses arrive, reports Kapook.
Eligible applicants will receive an SMS to change their appointment dates shortly after the process is complete.
Announcement excludes hospital vaccinations
Thankfully, vaccinations in hospitals will still carry on as the Thai Ruam Jai programme only accounts for vaccination drives held in public venues in Bangkok, most of which are shopping malls.
The 25 vaccination sites include:
- The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce
- The Street Ratchada
- Central Ladprao
- Siam Cement Group
- Sripatum University
- Central Festival Eastville
- Thai PBS
- Samyan Mitrtown
- Asiatique
- True Digital Park
- Thanya Park
- Central World
- Siam Paragon
- Lotus Rama 4
- The Emporium
- The Mall Bangkapi
- Robinson Ladkrabang
- Lotus Minburi
- Big C Romklao
- ICONSIAM
- Central Pinklao
- The Mall Bang Khae
- Big C Bang Bon
- PTT Station Rama 2
Yet, with the shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, many hospitals in Bangkok may soon also face a similar problem. The government is already in the midst of providing citizens with a solution, as well as sourcing for alternate supplies of vaccines.
The silver lining among the dark clouds
Despite the confusing narratives regarding the Covid-19 situation in Thailand this morning, there is one that we can def look forward to: five places including museums, parks, salons, as well as health and beauty clinics will be allowed to open from 14th June.
Whilst we wait for the BMA to officially announce the opening dates for these venues, we can finally start planning our next trips to somewhere else besides our bedrooms and kitchen.
In the meantime, we do hope the situation with the shortage of vaccines will be resolved ASAP.
