After the announcement of a 2-week shut down for entertainment venues and other locations like gyms and zoos, Bangkok continues to tighten its cleaning standards by disinfecting its streets. This will be conducted by the Thai army from 1AM to 5AM everyday until the end of March.

From 19th – 31st March 2020, army chief Apirat Kongsompong will follow government orders regarding the cleaning amid the COVID-19 situation by assigning different army units to clean Bangkok at through the morning.

The daily cleaning will be done across all 50 districts in Bangkok. The focus will be on main roads, trading areas, transportation hubs, and meeting points prone to large crowds. 

A chemical solution that is a mix of water and disinfectant will be sprayed all around the areas at night before people start their daily livs come daytime.

The wee hours of 19th March 2020 saw the first round of disinfecting by the teams. The soldiers on duty donned protection suits and travelled around the city with trucks containing the chemical solution.


Necessary measures being put in place


With the virus continuing to spread across Bangkok, strict measures are being taken to minimise risks of further infections.

With the help of different sanctions together with co-operation from the public, we hope that the number of COVID-19 cases will soon be under control and disappear very soon.
