Bangkok & 5 Provinces To Be “Maximum And Strict Control” Areas As Of 1st May, No Dine-In Allowed

Covid-19 in Thailand April 2021

For the past week, the number of daily new Covid-19 cases have hovered around 2,000. The government has responded by expediting the mass vaccination process, opening field hospitals, and imposing hygiene and safety protocols.

The latest in those measures are the designation of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Chonburi as “Maximum and Strict Control Areas” from 1st May.

No dine-in allowed

On 29th April 2021, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that six areas will be classified as “Dark Red” or “Maximum and Strict Control Areas” starting 1st May 2021. Citizens in “Dark Red” zones must wear a mask at all times, keep gatherings to 20 people maximum and refrain from dine-in meals. Restaurants will be open for takeaway until 9PM.

Continue to follow hygiene protocols

This isn’t the first time Thailand has been through a surge in Covid-19 cases, so residents are equipped with experience on combatting the virus. However, it’s important to remember that consistently following safety measures like washing your hands, social distancing and wearing your mask is crucial towards controlling the situation, and hopefully arriving at a new-new normal sooner.
