Baan Na Kang Tong in Thailand
Many of us have been pining for that Euro-trip that the ‘rona decided to cancel for us. We’re dreaming of sipping sangria along the streets of Barcelona, marveling at the different courtyards across Russia’s many castles or simply staying in one of Scandinavia’s modern, minimalistic architecture.
While we can’t head over to Europe, there are some designers that have created little pockets of the Western continent right here in Thailand. Take Baan Na Kang Tong for example.
This secluded retreat has Scandinavian style wooden cottages set in a lush green field set in the country’s more temperate Northern region – it has all the makings of a European summer.
Hotels with international vibes in Thailand:
A secluded retreat situated among lush greenery in Nan
Baan Na Kang Tong in Thai means “cottages in the middle of the field”- the hotel is tucked in between two hills and surrounded by forests, where visitors can see the early morning mists rolling through.

While its scenic and all-natural surroundings shouldn’t come as a surprise, the fact that it’s only 10 minutes away from Nan’s downtown area does astound us.
It’s hard to believe that these flower fields are located just a short drive from the city centre.

Considering how long we’ve been stuck indoors, we definitely deserve to enjoy their lush greenery and ultra-aesthetic lodgings.

The cottages here are primarily composed of stone, wood and glass. The absence of concrete, along with the vines that climb up the lodgings makes us think of homes in the Swedish countryside.

Minimalistic cottages with private jacuzzis
We city folk live and breath the grind. Thus, it seems like we’re always living in overdrive and never really stopping to smell that – non-existent – roses along the pavement. So, it makes sense that mental health gurus are always advising us to get closer to nature.
Although, imagine how bummed we were to hear that the term “forest bathing” originally referred to *being* among flora rather than actually bathing in a naturally-formed pool. Well, the hotel makes the term come to life with private outdoor jacuzzies.

Starting from ฿3,900 (~USD120) per night, their Baan Arb Sila cottage – which means stone bathing house – gives guests the chance to bathe in a stone jacuzzi while being surrounded by nature. The room sleeps two people, and the price includes breakfast. Score.

Although, if you’d like a bath that’s more modern and resembles a Four Seasons Hotel bathtub, but still be away from the concrete jungle , then we’d recommend their Baan Rim Bueng cottage ฿4,500 (~USD140). This jacuzzi is a zen-like private space made of bamboo with a slight taste of urban architecture.

For aspiring minimalists, the retreat’s interior design concept should resonate with your aesthetic preferences. Their cottages are all sparsely decorated with wooden furniture, plants and are constructed with a loft to maximise the lodging’s space.

Forget all about concrete at this secluded nature retreat
While home is where the heart is, and is supposed to be where we feel most at east, working from home has made it a little harder for us to intentionally disconnect from our work.
With restrictions slowly being lifted, we’d say it’s high time that we prioritise some us-time away from screens. Although we aren’t able to fly to Sweden and live out our Midsommar festival fantasies, this private retreat that’s only ten minutes away from the city centre is just about the next best thing.
So, what are you waiting for? If you can justify taking a break and shelling out cash to head over to Europe, then taking a rejuvenating trip to this hotel will save both money and bandwidth.
