Thai farm owner finds 4-legged chicken
For many Thais, we usually feel excited when encountering animals with atypical physical traits, such as two-headed turtles and two-tailed lizards. Some of us may also link sightings of them to good fortune, or as a way to generate winning lottery numbers.
In this similar case, a chicken farm’s owner found a 4-legged chicken in his farm, and he believed it would bring luck to his business because the farm has done well since the chicken was born. He later added that he wouldn’t sell this chicken to anyone.

“Lucky” 4-legged chicken born in a Thai farm
On 3rd November 2022, a chicken farm’s owner in Trang reportedly took news reporters to see a 4-legged chicken in his farm. The chicken was reported to be a male and has four legs. The owner said that he had opened a chicken farm for eight years; and yet it was only the first time he had encountered a 4-legged chicken.
He also believed the chicken has brought luck to his farm since his business was booming after its birth. Since he believed the chicken’s birth to be an auspicious omen, he asserted that he’d never sell the chicken to anyone else, according to Thaich8.
Netizens left funny comments about the chicken
After the news broke, however, some netizens had their doubts on whether it was truly a “lucky” chicken. Others left comments, including a food recipe involving this particular chicken.

One man implied the chicken would become a meal soon.
Translation: When luck is gone, it will turn into a boiled chicken.
Another guy said that the chicken would be cooked for food if it no longer brought luck to his business.
Translation: It is disabled, Sir.
One FB user pointed out that the chicken was disabled, and that its birth had nothing to do with luck.
Translation: A chicken with four legs is said to bring good luck, but a person with 11 fingers is considered disabled.
Finally, one user found the belief that the a 4-legged chicken could bring good luck, a ridiculous notion – comparing it to classifying a human with an extra finger a “disability”.
In the end, it’s just a personal belief
We know this story concerns our personal beliefs as some people might find it ridiculous to believe that a disabled animal can bring luck. However, we’re sure many people still believe so, due to their personal experiences. In the end, it is rather impossible to prove either hypothesis.
Anyway, we are glad that the owner’s business has been doing well, whether it is related to the chicken or not. So we’d say there’s nothing wrong with him sticking to his belief and keeping the chicken as long as it makes him happy.
