Z9 Resort is a floating resort in Kanchanaburi
When you hear the name Srinakarin Dam for the first time, you might go silent for a sec and trying to figure out where it is. Basically, Srinakarin Dam is a massive dam in Kanchanaburi, and it’s a body of water that holds many resorts and villas. The dam is encircled by many colossal mountains that attract several tourists, so unsurprisingly there are many guest houses around.
Accordingly, Z9 Resort is one of the floating resorts on Srinakarin Dam with rooms that look like Eskimo houses – but exuding those on-the-water-living vibes that aren’t out of place in Maldives. Spoiler alert, free sunset kayaking trips could be on the cards too.
So let’s not waste more time and check out why we’d pin this resort on our itinerary list.

I won’t blame you if Eskimo houses come to mind when you set eyes on Z9 Resort’s unconventional rooms because the same goes for me. At first glance, I thought the rows of cabins looked like modern igloos.
These small rooms look way-out as they seem to be covered by a roof from top to bottom. Ahead of the rooms lies a long winding boardwalk on the water, which looks like a great pathway for a pensive evening stroll.
This room is called South The Scene from ฿4,500 (~USD130)/night – for a max of 2 pax – including a buffet breakfast that can fill your stomach for an entire day.
After storing your belongings, you can sprint out of your room and jump right in the water. Please do not forget to put a life vest on, which is already in your room.

If you’d need a bit more bed space, I’d recommend the second type of room called Escape North that allows up to 3 people for ฿6,600 (~USD191)/night.
To clarify, with a third person, you need to pay for an extra bed for ฿1,400 (~USD42).
If you’ve been wanting to paddle around on this large body of water while observing panoramic sunset views, the good news is that the resort seems to what to fulfill your wishes for free.

In the evening while the sun is setting, it’s could be a good time to ask your friend if they’re up for some free kayak paddling.
With this wide area of water, it could be a fun activity to explore the premises in your little kayak.
After your energy runs out, stop by their cafe to recharge with a glass of iced chocolate.

If you’re the kind of person who loves chilling in cafes with a drink in hand, while admiring cool views, stop by this cafe that sits right behind the resort. A few minutes on foot is all it takes to reach here.
The cafe is situated on the land, overlooking the dam and numerous mountains. We love that guests are encouraged to kick back with their iced lattes to bask in the full 1080HD views of mountain ranges rising from the sea here.
Getting to Z9 resort
On your next getaway to Bangkok, it may interest you to know that it’s too too far from the bustling city centre by car.
A 4-hour drive would get you to the vicinity of Kanchanaburi where this private retreat is located.
So, the next time when you plan a back-to-nature trip, you won’t have to travel too far to the north or the south during the same holiday.
