After the 2-week quarantine at Sattahip Naval Base in Chon Buri was over, 137 returnees from Wuhan are now delighted to get to go home to their families after being cleared of the COVID-19 virus with no symptoms.

All returnees are Thai nationals who are students, tourists, and workers from Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province in China.

All discharged folks were also given healthcare bags,’ which included medical items like face masks and hand sanitisers. They were also gifted with souvenirs including fish snacks and Naval merch.

Special thanks to the workers

The cutest part was when the healthcare staff, who had been working hard for 2 weeks, waved goodbye at the group as they were boarding the bus.

All the returnees and their families sent their gratitude to the government for handling the quarantine well.

They were also thankful for all the 30 medical staff for treating everyone very well while they were being monitored.

Unfortunately, a Thai guide was found to be infected with the COVID-19 virus. He will be treated at Chon Buri Hospital until he’s fully cured and recovered.

One of the staff revealed to Bangkok Post that the medical team was quite stressed as they had to work while in the public eye as the media was focusing on the returnees after their arrival. But she was also happy that most of them got to go home to their loved ones.

We’re sending a big thank you to all healthcare workers and everybody involved – you guys did such a great job
