Walk-in vaccine services paused
Thailand has been jumping back and forth between measures to curb the recent spread of Covid-19. News concerning vaccinations are also akin to puzzle pieces, as the public has to quickly adapt along with the high number of official announcements coming out.-
Last week, walk-in vaccinations were becoming an option, but now the plan is facing a halt to prevent an issue of overcrowding, announced PM Prayut Chan-o-cha on 18th May 2021.
Here are the details of the announcement.
PM Prayut calls off walk-in vaccine services
To prevent people crowding into vaccination sites, and to pre-empt public disappointment of not receiving a Covid-19 shot, walk-in vaccination services have been taken off the table.
This comes out of concern for places such as Bangkok, where the large population is expected to cause commotion, PM Prayut explained further during a cabinet meeting via video conference.
Instead, the prime minister proposed the format of on-site registration as opposed to walk-ins that are less systematic, according to Workpoint Today.

For now, the main channel for Covid-19 vaccine registration will be the “Mor Prom” app, which the PM has instructed government units to improve.
Additionally, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration should be the only source of information concerning the subject from now to prevent any confusion to the public, added PM Prayut.
