Uma Daomeeyai Is A Glamping Resort That Overlooks Chiang Mai’s Misty Mountains With Tents From ~USD157/Night

Uma Daomeeyai is a glamping resort in Chiang Mai

As with most memorable trips, we’re sure that you’ll remember your time in Chiang Mai vividly. For me, it involved gazing at grassy mountain ranges, waiting for the sun to rise up. The moment the golden light shone through the mountain’s shadow along the horizon truly took my breath away. Most of all, I was really surprised that Thailand was home to such a beautiful place, up in the north.

Ever since that trip, I made it a point to try to explore Chiang Mai more and found many glamping sites tucked between mountains and among forests.

Uma Daomeeyai is one such resort that houses glamping tents of all shapes and sizes for guests to wake up to misty mountains in the morning. If this sounds interesting to you, we’ll unpack what to expect below.

As city dwellers, we might be tired of waking up to see our neighbour’s houses or dreary downtown skyscrapers every morning.

When we’re glamping, however, we love that when the morning comes, the sun’s golden light will illuminate the thick sea of fog before us – a view we’d gladly wake up to way faster than any alarm clock’s summons. That said, Uma Daomeeyai is a glamping resort in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai that offers this exact experience.

Perched on top of the mountain, guests will be able to spot neighbouring mountain ridges across from your tent at the same height.

With panoramic views, this roomy tent ฿5,200 (~USD157) houses up to 2 people and includes breakfast as well as one free set of Mookata. If you want an extra bed, you can top up ฿1,200 (~USD36) for it.

It should be noted that their tents don’t provide any air-conditioners but standing fans instead. However, we bet the cool mountain air will suffice to keep you fresh for the whole night, or day.

Outdoor tubs to go forest bathing

As for the outdoor amenities, we hear that rooms come with – yes, our favourite – bathtubs situated on the deck for guests to enjoy the scenery in its full glory. Of course, nothing is more relaxing than soaking in a mini tub with some strawberries to snack on while watching the clouds roll by.

Frankly, if given a chance, we would be lying in that tub for an entire day, looking at the swirling fog and letting ourselves get lost in thought.

The toilet here is enclosed with bamboo partitions, which will let you do your business in a laidback ambience. At nightfall, you might look for something to do before hitting the sack, so here’s our suggestion.

Gazing at a starry sky once night falls

Living in a bustling city also means that spotting bright stars in the night sky is nearly impossible. So if you’re into stargazing, you should jump on this opportunity while you’re staying at Uma Daomeeyai.

After the sun goes down, the darkness will allow you to see numerous twinkling stars in the sky; now’s probably the right time to count them with your buddies.

Stay above the fog at Uma Daomeeyai

This glamping site at Uma Daomeeyai will let you do things like gazing at stars and watching the morning fog roll in among the mountains – activities you certainly won’t get a chance to do in urban cities.

The resort is located 1.5 hours away from Chiang Mai’s downtown area, so driving here won’t be much trouble. You can also take a Grab car if you can secure a ride.

All in all, if you are looking for a place to take a break from the city, planning a trip here to camp out among the Chiang Mai’s famous mountains could be a good way to do so.
