International transit through Thailand
Thailand has been slowly easing travel restrictions. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) recently announced that international transits will be allowed through Thailand from 1st March 2021.

Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, the Minister of Transport assured that the CAAT’s decision to allow airlines to transit through Thai airports are in alignment with the Centre for Covid -19 Situation Administration (CCSA)’s resolution to ease control measures on the virus.
International transits now permitted
International passengers weren’t allowed to transit through Thai airports, because of the spike of virus cases – the amendments to allow flight transits were made following the calls made by the airlines, according to Mr. Chidchob.
Samut Sakhon is the epicentre of virus cases in Thailand, but it’s been successful in controlling high-risk areas in the province. The decision for lifting these travel restrictions stems from the country’s reports on a drop of Covid-19 cases since 20th February 2021 shared by The Thaiger.
Covid-19 flight safety measures
On 30th December 2021, the selling of souvenirs and serving of in-flight meals and drinks were suspended in accordance with the government’s response to the spike in Covid-19 cases.
Now, the CAAT has granted the green light for domestic flight operators to continue in-flight meals, drinks and selling souvenirs to passengers due to the drop of Covid-19 cases starting from 25th February 2021, as shared by Bangkok Post.
Passengers and flight attendants still are required to continue abiding with Covid-19 safety measures on flights: masks must be worn throughout flights except whilst drinking and eating.
More relaxed travel regulations
Thailand is slowly easing travel restrictions and making travel accessible again. It’s essential to travel and practise Covid-19 safety measures wherever possible, even though regulations have been more at ease.
