Thai Man Advertises His Ghost Auditing Service On Social Media, Apartments Can Pay Him To Prove They Aren’t Haunted

Checking for haunted rooms in Thailand

Many Thais believe that abandoned or unoccupied spaces – such as offices and residential spaces – are haunted; this superstition causes long gaps between occupancy, posing a problem for landlords.

Recently, a Facebook user, Piyawat Kaewsiri Num-Ma-Tum came up with a solution. He posted on a Facebook group, ‘Tang Hong Gun Ter’ about his “ghost-auditing” services, where he stays in long-unoccupied units in order to prove they are safe from spooky spirits.

A career in the supernatural

In the midst of Covid-19, the business and employment climate has surely changed. Piyawat Kaewsiri Num-Ma-Tum saw a demand for something that he could supply: after seeing many places that are unable to lease due to the fact that former tenants passed away in the units, he offered to disprove hauntings.

Translation: I’ve heard that many people die in their dorm rooms – which can be troublesome to the next tenants.

Whoever just moved into their new apartments and are unsure if there are wandering ghosts, I can do a Test Sleep, how this works is that I’m going to sleep in the room for 24 hours. Every 30 minutes, I’m going to challenge the spirits. My fee is ฿1,200 (~USD38.42) per hour.

I don’t mind how many days, nights and months you want to hire me, I’ll take all of it because I barely have enough to eat. Plus, I wanna encounter spirits myself for once in my life.

Piyawat Kaewsiri Num-Ma-Tum’s post managed to receive over 8,000 likes and caught the attention of other netizens from other Facebook groups as well.

Translation: That’s a good idea.

Translation: Give it a go, you can be famous. There’s even a guy in Japan who gets hired to be friends with you. He gets paid decently and hangs out with his customers in a short period of time. I think the group target is too small.

New way of ghost busting

While many are coming up with side-gigs and new streams of income, Piyawat’s idea is definitely one of the more unique ones we’ve encountered; it also could be very lucrative, considering Thais claim to encounter ghosts almost every day.
