Thailand Officially Extends Expired Visas Until 31st October 2020

1-month extension

Good news for foreigners who have been stuck in Thailand ever since COVID-19 broke out – you will get another month to sort things out with your embassy for repatriation flights.

On 29th October 2020, Thailand’s government officially extended more than 150,000 expired visas until 31st October 2020.

The last extension ended on 26th September 2020.

No overstay fee and ban

The extension will save around 150,000 foreigners from an overstay fee, which is ฿500 per day, or ฿20,000 for 40 days or more.

Apart from the fee, they also won’t have to face a possible 1-year ban for travellers who overstay for more than 90 days.

The Foreign Ministry suggested that those who are still unable to return home by the deadline will have to extend their visa by themselves as per normal.

We hope everybody figures a way to return home safely by the end of October.
