Department stores to be vaccination sites
Thailand’s government has been tackling the recent Covid-19 surge by collaborating with the private sector to implement emergency procedures and avoid overcrowding hospitals.
The most recent development is the transformation of department stores into vaccination sites.
Recent Covid-19 news:

Get vaccinated at a department store
Department store owners have pledged to join forces with hospitals, and transform their spaces into vaccination centres. One of Thailand’s provinces, Rayong, has already used a shopping complex as a vaccination centre: Rayong Hospital vaccinated local officials at Central Rayong.
In addition to some of Thailand’s Thailand’s biggest retail companies, Central Pattana Public Company Limited’s CEO, Mr. Preecha Ekkunagul announced that 23 of the company’s department stores will be available for vaccination use, whilst BJC’s management also offered 54 of their stores.
Construction giant, Siam Cement Group (SCG) also announced their plans 10 of their complexes into vaccination clinics, as published on Prachachat:
- Siam Cement Group’s office branch in Bangsue
- Central Ladprao
- Samyan Mitrtown
- Fashion Island
- Central Pinklao
- The Mall Bang Khae
- True Digital Park
- Asiatique
- Thanya Park
- ICONSIAM
SCG’s 10 vaccination sites will have:
- Access to nearby hospitals no further than 10 minutes away
- Extra space for social distancing with state-of-the-art ventilation systems
- WiFi and internet access
- Emergency exits
Unification in a global crisis
Some of Thailand’s largest companies and developers are teaming up with medical professionals and officials in order to speed up the mass vaccination process. This brings hope to the local population that the “new normal” isn’t as far away as we initially thought.
