It’s tough to stand out in the Thai real estate market. Especially with the economy in a tough place, people are hesitant to buy new property. But one Thai woman put her house up for sale with a sign that turned the heads of millions of Thais.

The sign was not meant for her husband’s eyes
It was only a sign posted on an electric pole, no bigger than A4 in size, but the message on it made that humble poster scream as loud as a highway billboard during rush hour.
The sign read, “I’m divorcing my husband.”
It was clear, concise, and to the point. The sign details that the house is still “extremely new” and that it was a 3-bedroom, 4 bathroom house.
The price on the sign, revealed a few more details, namely an “Angry at my husband” price. The listed price is ฿10.69 million (~288,000 USD). Also included is a contact number which includes a spicy disclaimer: “This is my assistant’s number. He’s a transvestite, not an affair partner.”
Thai netizens ate it up faster than vegetarians trying bacon for the first time.
An enticing deal for netizens
With such an explosive reason for the price, netizens flocked to ask questions.
Translation: If you guys make up, will you buy the house back?
Translation: If she still can’t sell the house, I’m sure she’ll put up a new sign with a promotion to include her husband with the house.
One person even shared the complete opposite reason for selling a house.
Translation: This person over here is selling her house to chase a man.
A house is a risky investment, especially with a partner
Houses are bigger and riskier investments than ever. Gone are the days of getting houses for cheap. Many young adults looking to buy their first property are now confronted with astronomical prices.
The risk is multiplied when you consider buying a house with a partner. Moving in and living together is a big step. Perhaps when you see your partner’s ability (or lack thereof) to do chores, to help out around the house, or how messy they might be, previously hidden dealbreakers may arise. So when it comes to taking that next step, take your time.
But if all else fails, a sign like this one might do the trick if you need to recoup some of your losses.
