Thai Airways Cancels Heart Shaped Flight Route Amidst Rise In COVID-19 Cases

COVID-19 cases in Thailand on the rise


Less than a week ago, Thai Airways unveiled a heart shaped flight route. The loop, which flies over 99 sacred Buddhist sites in the country, was meant to bring prosperity while lifting people’s spirits to new heights. 

On 21st December, Khaosod English reported cancellation of the flight route route due to the spike in COVID-19 cases.


All flights and financial recovery grounded


The New Year’s Heart-Shaped sacred flight route was the latest in the airline’s recovery plan, with ticket prices at ~฿6999 ( ~USD, 232.94) for Economy Class and ~฿12,999 ( ~USD 432.62) for Royal Silk Class. Tickets for the flights were sold out.

Thai Airways had to cancel the flight, and refund all tickets due to the Coronavirus cases.


Unpredictability continues with Coronavirus


COVID-19 was a huge blow to the tourism industry. With travel restrictions and health measures that prevented people from being in closed quarters, it was practically impossible to take a flight.

Thai Airways got very creative. The airline was selling eco-friendly bags, holy flights, and even opened a cabin restaurant
