Songkran has been a well-loved holiday for both locals or tourists, who flock to major destinations like Bangkok to have a taste of the festival. But, due to COVID-19, this water splashing festival was postponed from April until further notice.
As the number of COVID-19 infections have since dropped and remains low, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that the Songkran festival might be happening in July.
On 1st June 2020, Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of CCSA, said that it’s possible for Songkran to be held next month if the number of infections remains low.
However, the specific dates of this year’s Songkran have yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned for updates.
