Travel restrictions to curb Covid-19


Currently, there are no signs of lockdown and travel restrictions from the Thai government; they also have given the green light to provincial offices to implement their own set of rules. 41 provinces have opted to close nightlife venues for the next two weeks starting today. 

However, the lack of national regulation appears to be concerning Thai aviation businesses, such as Thai AirAsia.

Aviation businesses want travel restrictions


Airline businesses appear to be very concerned with the repercussions of inter-provincial travel amidst a surge of Covid-19 cases.

A majority of the passengers haven’t cancelled their bookings during Songkran with Thai Air Asia, according to the Director of Asian Aviation and CEO of Thai AirAsia, Plc. Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld. 

He alluded to wanting the Thai government to impose travel restrictions, as short-term revenue loss in the tourist industry would be easier to recover from than another nation-wide lockdown, reported The Thaiger
