His actions wouldn’t have become the talk of the town if he hadn’t decided to pay respects to Mae Kong Ka, a Thai water goddess, by using his iPad. He literally swiped his krathong after making a wish.

Thai netizens are loving his idea

The video has since been shared over 119K times and is flooded with more than 75K reactions – all under 24 hours.

A lot of commenters were expressing their admiration for his idea while many were just laughing so hard at the entire situation. Some even wanted to do the same for the next year’s Loy Krathong day.

A possible solution for reducing waste

Mr. Kantapit’s video might look like a funny thing to do, but it actually says a lot about how we can use technology to reduce wastage caused by offerings.

The overloading garbage in Bangkok is a serious issue and has been causing an apparent problem like flooding in the city because of sewer blockage. Smalls acts like not littering or picking up trash do help immensely.

We hope that on the next Loy Krathong day, people would pick up on his idea and swipe to send off their blessings too.
