Due to concerns of the COVID-19 outbreak, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) agreed on 24th March 2020 to postpone Tokyo Olympics.
The president of IOC, Thomas Bach, also mentioned that this is because the COVID-19 virus has had a significant impact on the lives of people as well as the athletes’ preparation for the games.

Therefore, the Olympics have officially been rescheduled and will be held from 23rd July to 8th August 2021, while the Paralympics will be from 24th August to 5th September 2021, said President of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Organising Committee, Yoshiro Mori.
While no one expected The Olympics to ever be cancelled, the pandemic has proven to shake things up once again. Now that the council is making sure to avoid COVID-19, we’re looking forward to enjoying the games in July next year.
