It’s normal to see tables with plastic stools at local street side stalls in Bangkok. But, one noodle store at Pratunam brought us back to our old good days in school after setting up individual classroom tables for customers to use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because shopping malls are being closed due the virus, Kuy Tiew Rue Loong Pratunam moved out of the mall was running its business at and has opened a temporary store at Pratunam Soi 31.

Due to social distancing policies, every shop needs to make their space less cramped or set up plastic partitions on their tables.

Now that the cost of setting plastic partitions is quite high due to the demand, noodle shop owner Supaporn Kritsinchai shared with MThai that the store borrowed 20 lecture seats from Wat Ratchasittharam Ratchaworawihan, a temple in the neighbourhood.

It turns out that the customers have reacted pretty well to this – some of them even come here to enjoy noodles and take photos of the set up too.

However, Ms. Supaporn did not mention if the store will settle down at this location or move back to its original spot after the shopping mall possibly opens again on 17th May 2020.
